Antares

Antares is the name of the hill above Vittorio Veneto commonly known as Monte Altare. In ancient times it was a sacred place for pagan rituals of fertility and divination, as many Roman and pre-Roman archaeological finds attest. The rituals had strong ties with astronomy: Antares is the star that aligns with the ridge of the mountain at sunset on the winter solstice.
